Samsung Electronics has launched a virtual playground dubbed Samsung Space Tycoon (Space Tycoon), which has been built inside the Roblox metaverse platform.

According to the company, Space Tycoon offers a virtual space for users to create and play games as well as share experiences using its products along with alien characters in space. The users can take cues on design and functionality from business simulation ‘tycoon’ genre, said Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics corporate design centre executive vice president Jinsoo Kim said: “Space Tycoon is designed to be a playground where many customers can experience unlimited possibilities of virtual spaces.

“We wanted to give our Gen Z customers a chance to experience Samsung products in a way they have never done before. We will continue to showcase content that can deliver more meaningful and entertaining digital experiences for both our current and future customers.”

Space Tycoon has three specific play areas, which are the Mining Zone for procurement of resources, the Shop for buying game items, and the Lab for manufacturing products.

Presently, more than 20 Samsung products are available in the Shop where the colours of the items purchased can randomly change based on the levels achieved. The company said that new series of products will be updated regularly.

In the new virtual playground, users with the excavated resources can design multiple Samsung products, from Galaxy-smartphones to various TVs and home appliances. They can also buy or upgrade game items in Space Tycoon.

Samsung Electronics said that the virtual playground will launch simultaneously in 14 languages, including English, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese.
