Oracle, SAP, and Accenture have decided to suspend their respective business operations in Russia following the country’s ongoing war on Ukraine.

The three IT vendors have pledged their support to Ukraine amid the military crisis faced by the country.

Oracle and SAP’s decisions follow letters tweeted to them by Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov. The Minister had appealed to the two multinational companies to pull out of Russia.

Oracle, which is based in the US, said that it has already stopped operations in Russia.

The company tweeted: “On behalf of Oracle’s 150,000 employees around the world and in support of both the elected government of Ukraine and for the people of Ukraine, Oracle Corporation has already suspended all operations in the Russian Federation.”

SAP, which is based in Germany, a NATO member country, has condemned Russia’s military actions against Ukraine. The enterprise software provider said that economic sanctions against Russia are a key mechanism in the efforts to bring peace.

The German firm revealed that it is stopping business in Russia in line with sanctions. Besides, it will pause all sales of the company’s services and products in the transcontinental country.

SAP CEO Christian Klein said: “Like the rest of the world, we are watching the war in Ukraine with horror and condemn the invasion in the strongest possible terms. An act as inhumane and unjustified as this is an attack on democracy and humanity. Its consequences affect us all.”

Ireland-based Accenture on Thursday said that it is discontinuing its business in Russia. The professional services company called Russia’s war an unlawful and horrific attack on the Ukrainian people and their freedom.

The company has close to 2,300 employees in Russia, whose jobs are at risk following the decision. However, Accenture said that it will be providing support to its Russian employees.

In Ukraine, the company doesn’t have a business but is said to have Ukrainian nationals in its workforce.

The company stated: “We will continue our efforts to help our Ukrainian colleagues working around the globe at Accenture and their extended families; we are providing telehealth for those in Ukraine, and helping resettle family members who leave Ukraine.”
