US-based artificial intelligence (AI) research and deployment company OpenAI has unveiled custom versions of its large language model-based chatbot ChatGPT to help users generate tailored versions for specific purposes.

Dubbed GPTs, the customisable versions of the chatbot will help users by eliminating the need to maintain a list of carefully crafted prompts and instruction sets as well as the manual copying of them into ChatGPT.

According to the Microsoft-backed OpenAI, anyone will be able to seamlessly develop their own GPT without the requirement of coding.

OpenAI said that example GPTs are available currently for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users to try out, including Canva and Zapier AI Actions. Users can build GPTs and share them publicly.

The company intends to offer GPTs to more users soon.

Besides, OpenAI plans to launch the GPT Store later this month. The new store will feature creations by verified developers.

Once in the store, GPTs become searchable and can go up in the leaderboards.

The company will also spotlight the most useful and entertaining GPTs in categories like productivity, education, and just for fun.

Furthermore, developers will be able to earn money in the coming months based on the number of people using their GPTs.

OpenAI stated: “GPTs are a new way for anyone to create a tailored version of ChatGPT to be more helpful in their daily life, at specific tasks, at work, or at home—and then share that creation with others.”

In March 2023, the AI research and deployment company introduced the ChatGPT and Whisper application programming interfaces (APIs). The launch enables developers to integrate ChatGPT and Whisper models into their apps and products via the company’s API.
