Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched a hardware design centre in Taiwan to drive innovations in 5G, edge and high-performance computing.

The company has established HPE Taiwan as part of its global supply chain model.

HPE Taiwan is expected to serve as a global strategic hub for next-generation technology and as a Centre of Excellence, boosting new product developments in market-leading areas.

It will lead to new product development for rack, tower, blades, and storage services.

To enhance those services, HPE will also upgrade and expand its existing HPE Taiwan Lab by making a multi-million dollar investment.

The HPE Taiwan Lab will offer the latest equipment and facilities for engineering teams to develop, design and test new technologies.

The company’s Taiwan engineering teams are engaged in the innovation and development of HPE’s compute portfolio that stretches from edge to exascale.

HPE Taiwan engineers were involved in the HPE Open RAN Solution Stack, which was announced by the company earlier this year, the company said.

The teams were also engaged in the development of HPE’s new portfolios based on the third generation AMD EPYC processor and the 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Taiwan managing director Jon Wang said: “Customers need secure connectivity, faster insights from data, and a cloud experience everywhere, and our teams in Taiwan are at the forefront of innovating to meet these needs and anticipate future demands.

“The HPE team in Taiwan plays a strategic role in facilitating HPE’s critical supply chain needs, and our investment in this important market over the last 50 years has continued to expand due to its technology-focused economy, experienced supplier ecosystem and highly skilled people.”

According to the company, HPE Taiwan is its largest hardware design centre outside of the US.

The next-generation technology hub is expected to create new jobs in Taiwan, mostly in its global operations and advanced engineering.

HPE has already expanded its headcount in Taiwan by 30% in the last three years.
