Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) said that Japan-based NTT Business Solutions has deployed its HPE GreenLake platform to launch a new portfolio of hybrid cloud services.

NTT Business Solutions is part of Japanese network and system integrator NTT WEST Group.

The company will use the edge-to-cloud platform from HPE to deliver its ‘Regional Revitalization Cloud’ to offer a hybrid cloud service to local governments, businesses, and educational institutions in western Japan.

Its new hybrid cloud service is expected to meet the demands of its customers for strong cloud services, spanning public and private cloud environments. Besides, the new cloud service will make sure that the location of critical data is close to the end customer, thereby easing any concerns regarding data sovereignty, said HPE.

NTT Business Solutions value design department executive officer Hidenori Kigami said: “We have selected the HPE GreenLake platform because it accelerates our customers’ digital transformation and quickly scales performance and capacity to meet our customers’ business demands.

“HPE GreenLake allows us to pay for what we use so we can accurately match our costs to revenue and we can invest efficiently to expand the regional revitalization cloud.”

The primary driver of the Regional Revitalization Cloud of NTT WEST Group is to resolve regional issues and help institutions and businesses expedite their digital transformation.

NTT WEST Group’s hybrid cloud approach will see leveraging of Microsoft Azure public cloud in combination with the HPE GreenLake platform to offer a strong regional delivery model.

The Japanese firm is using the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform running HPE ProLiant for Microsoft Azure Stack Hub, which allows the provision of Azure-consistent services from its own data centres.

HPE said that the first cloud services have been rolled out in Kyoto, Aichi, and Tottori. The services are being launched in individual data centres across 30 prefectures in western Japan, said the US tech major.

HPE Japan managing director Hirokazu Mochizuki said: “NTT WEST Group’s Regional Revitalization Cloud initiative to accelerate digital transformation for local governments, educational institutions, and corporations is truly advanced and extremely innovative.

“We are honoured that NTT West Group has chosen HPE’s portfolio to run data and applications that cannot be deployed in the public cloud due to security constraints, and are excited to see how the HPE GreenLake platform is being leveraged strategically to maximize their cloud business.”

Recently, British banking group Barclays selected HPE GreenLake for driving its hybrid multi-cloud strategy and digital transformation throughout its global businesses.
