Cognizant has agreed to acquire Thirdera, a ServiceNow partner, in a move to improve cross-industry digital transformation.

The financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

Established in 2021, Thirdera focuses on delivering advisory, implementation and optimisation solutions related to the ServiceNow platform, with an emphasis on emerging enterprise workflow products.

The firm also claims to offer industry expertise and innovation to support businesses expedite growth and productivity through transformation, digitisation, and automation.

Thirdera, which is based in Broomfield, Colorado, is said to be the largest independent global pure-play ServiceNow consultancy.

Thirdera CEO and co-founder Jason Wojahn said: “This is a pivotal moment for redefining customer engagement and operational efficiency. We believe leveraging Cognizant’s scale, resources, and cross-industry expertise will help us revolutionise how our clients work in order to unleash productivity and drive innovation.

“We aim to transform the fabric of our clients’ work environments, creating substantial value and offering our employees significant opportunities for professional growth and learning.”

By acquiring Thirdera, Cognizant will add over 940 employees to the company’s ServiceNow business group. This will enable Cognizant to create one of the largest aggregations of ServiceNow professional certifications across the globe.

Besides, the transaction will advance the initiatives on the path of Cognizant and ServiceNow’s strategic alliance to build a $1bn combined business focused on artificial intelligence (AI)-driven automation.

The AI partnership between the duo was announced in June 2023. It made Cognizant as the primary launch partner of ServiceNow’s for observability solutions for cloud applications across various industries.

Cognizant and ServiceNow have expanded their strategic partnership since the former’s acquisition of ServiceNow consultancy Linium in 2021.

According to Cognizant, the combined strengths of Thirdera and its ServiceNow business group will offer clients comprehensive experiences in the ServiceNow ecosystem.

The combination is expected to deliver strong capabilities in professional services across key ServiceNow workflows and emerging products, including generative AI.

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar said: “ServiceNow is leading a market shift toward customer, employee, and creator products.

“I believe the combination of Cognizant’s deep industry, AI, and platform expertise paired with Thirdera’s leading-edge offerings in enterprise transformation will position Cognizant at the forefront of thought leadership and innovation in the ServiceNow ecosystem.”

Subject to the meeting of closing conditions, the transaction is anticipated to be completed next month.
