Cerebras Systems, an American generative artificial intelligence (AI) firm, and UAE-based technology holding group G42 are launching a network of nine interconnected supercomputers, dubbed Condor Galaxy.

The global supercomputer network is aimed at considerably reducing the training time of AI models.

According to the companies, the first AI supercomputer on this network called Condor Galaxy 1 (CG-1) features four exaFLOPs and 54 million cores to deliver a new approach to AI compute.

Cerebras Systems and G42 plan to install two more supercomputers, CG-2 and CG-3, in the US by the end of 2023.

The Condor Galaxy supercomputing network is planned to have a total capacity of 36 exaFLOPs.

Cerebras Systems CEO Andrew Feldman said: “Setting up a generative AI model takes minutes, not months and can be done by a single person. CG-1 is the first of three 4 exaFLOP AI supercomputers to be deployed across the US.

“Over the next year, together with G42, we plan to expand this deployment and stand up a staggering 36 exaFLOPs of efficient, purpose-built AI compute.”

CG-1, which is located in Santa Clara, California, connects 64 Cerebras CS-2 systems together into a single, user-friendly AI supercomputer, with an AI training capacity of four exaFLOPs.

Both parties offer CG-1 as a cloud service to enable clients to benefit from the performance of an AI supercomputer without managing or distributing models over physical systems.

CG-1 is developed to allow G42 and its cloud customers to train large models rapidly and seamlessly.

The partnership between the companies has further advanced AI models in Arabic bilingual chat, healthcare and climate studies, said Cerebras Systems.

G42 Cloud CEO Talal Alkaissi said: “This partnership brings together Cerebras’ extraordinary compute capabilities, together with G42’s multi-industry AI expertise.

“G42 and Cerebras’ shared vision is that Condor Galaxy will be used to address society’s most pressing challenges across healthcare, energy, climate action and more.”
