Accenture announced a partnership agreement with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered climate intelligence (CI) platform Cervest to deliver new solutions to customers requiring resilience amid increased climate risk.

The partnership is said to be in line with Accenture Ventures’ Project Spotlight initiative. It will bolster Accenture’s capabilities to provide customers with on-demand access to historical, current, and predictive views of combined climate risks to evaluate and resolve vulnerabilities in assets and portfolios across sectors.

Through the collaboration, Accenture expects to bring together its capabilities in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) intelligence and Cervest’s Earth Science AI, data modelling, and machine learning abilities available through its climate intelligence platform and EarthScan product.

According to Accenture, the engagement with Cervest will help customers to evaluate and reduce physical asset risk based on various climate scenarios.

Besides, it will allow clients to better prepare for resilience and inform net zero strategy along with making disclosures pertaining to climate more transparent.

Accenture sustainability services managing director Vrushali Gaud said: “As climate-related physical and transition risks become more prevalent, companies need to embed climate considerations into risk mitigation and put effective climate strategy and adaptation at the core of long-term business resilience.

“By combining our newly launched Climate.MAP Accelerator with Cervest’s pioneering climate data modelling and machine learning technology, Accenture continues to expand its capabilities to help clients across industries make informed sustainability decisions by analyzing climate risk-related data to address the impacts of climate change.”

Dubbed as Cervest Ratings, Cervest’s climate intelligence platform offers science-based climate risk insights. These include exposure metrics and risk ratings for assets and asset portfolios that are globally comparable.

Cervest Ratings assesses the overall risk or hazard-specific risk that consequences of climate change including droughts, flooding, wildfires, or extreme temperatures can have on assets.

Cervest founder and CEO Iggy Bassi said: “Accenture’s holistic approach, carbon intelligent technology and expertise in solving sustainability challenges, combined with Cervest’s unified CI capabilities, will help clients protect their people, assets, finances, operations and supply chains from the growing threat of physical and transition risk.

“Not only will unified CI enable organisations to accelerate scenario planning, it will also expand the network of science-backed insights available to make key transactional decisions and meet reporting standards.”
