The US Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) has awarded a contract worth up to $2.25bn to American technology company Peraton to deliver background investigation field work services.

During the five-year contract, the Virginia-based company is expected to complete countrywide background investigation services for the US agency to support various forms of government suitability determinations. It covers those related to government contract personnel assignments, US Armed Forces personnel acceptance, government employment, and trusted access permissions for government facilities, information, and information systems.

The US DCSA is the primary provider of investigative services for the federal government.

The agency undertakes more than two million investigations each year for civilian and military applicants and current employees, including federal contractors and consultants.

Peraton chairman, president, and CEO Stu Shea said: “As the incumbent for this contract and bringing over 19 years of experience as the leading industry provider, Peraton is proud to continue our relationship with the largest cleared network of nationwide background investigator services.

“This award is a testament of our continued partnership to enhance DSCA’s mission success and provide comprehensive background investigation support services.”

Peraton offers national security solutions and technologies to government agencies across the intelligence, citizen security, space, defense, cyber, health, and state and local markets.

Recently, the firm was awarded a $1.7bn blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to deliver information technology (IT) and professional IT services for the US National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT).

Under the contract, Peraton is expected to provide IT operations and service desk services, engineering, cloud solutions, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and data management capabilities to the health agency.
