Saudi Telecom Company (stc) has partnered with Ericsson to implement the latter’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based cognitive software solution deployments for enhanced network performance and better customer experience.

The cognitive software utilises big data scalability, automation, accuracy, speed, and consistency for better network optimisation. It performs proactive analysis of the 4G and 5G Radio Access Network (RAN), said Ericsson.

Stc Group operations vice president Mohammed Albadrani said: “Stc Group is committed to providing customers with seamless experiences and network performance.

“Stc has adopted the latest technologies from Ericsson to ensure proactive support and elevate customer experiences, even at times of high-traffic surges on the network.”

As part of the partnership, stc will leverage the portfolio of Ericsson Performance Optimizers for surgical optimisation analysis and recommendation.

The Ericsson Performance Optimizers employ digital twin technology and AI techniques such as deep reinforcement learning and expert recommender systems. This allows the Performance Optimizers to offer mobile network optimisation strategies and address specific network performance issues, which enable a better subscriber experience with lower operating costs.

Ericsson Middle East and Africa vice president and stc Saudi Arabia and Egypt customer unit head Håkan Cervell said: “Cognitive technologies blend big data with unique network domain expertise to deliver unprecedented speed, scale and accuracy in emerging intent-based network operations.

“Stc Group’s continued trust in our technology enables us to provide the best and latest solutions, complementing stc Group’s dedication to a seamless and enhanced network.”

The AI-based cognitive software solution is said to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions from operational activities.

Additionally, the Saudi Arabia-based telecommunications company has implemented 5G AI root-cause analysis capabilities to provide a better 5G experience for its subscribers.
