Siemens Energy has partnered with ServiceNow to develop an integrated software service offering for energy companies to mitigate cyberattacks.

The solution will help the companies to monitor, detect and respond to cyber threats targeting digitally connected critical infrastructure.

By creating a detection engine and workflows that streamline operations, the unified software solution will enable cybersecurity analysts to monitor anomalous or malicious behaviour.

The solution will combine Siemens Energy’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based software from its Managed Detection and Response (MDR), powered by Eos.iiTM, service with ServiceNow’s Operational Technology Management (OT Management) systems.

Siemens Energy’s MDR system is designed to offer a unified picture of anomalous behaviour with actionable insights to prevent cyberattacks.

To compare billions of real-time data points against a correctly functioning asset, MDR’s Eos.ii technology platform uses AI and digital twin technology, with its unified OT and information technology (IT) data stream.

By leveraging Siemens Energy’s Eos.ii software, energy companies will be able to turn cyber threat intelligence into an actionable response through the ServiceNow OT Management product.

ServiceNow industry solutions vice president Marshall Tyler said: “The ability to quickly turn data into action is critical to being able to proactively, reactively and remotely mitigate cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure. Yet, this is one of the biggest challenges for industrial innovation.

“Siemens Energy is a leader in this space and together we are arming the energy industry with the insights and workflows they need to deliver critical services and protect their customers and stakeholders.”

The partnership is aimed at enabling energy plant operators to act with Precision Defense, which is a response method to correct and recover from cyber incidents through the deployment of appropriate, targeted and proportionate measures.

Deploying Precision Defense is expected to result in improved efficiency and reduced operating costs for plant operators.
