Qualcomm Technologies and ESL Gaming, a German esports organiser and production company, are joining forces with an aim to transform the future of mobile esports by launching the Snapdragon Pro Series.

The parties have signed a multi-year agreement in this regard.

According to Qualcomm Technologies, the Snapdragon Pro Series will be a global mobile esports ecosystem with video game tournaments to be held across North America, the Middle East, Europe, China, Asia-Pacific, and North Africa.

The new mobile esports ecosystem will launch a global, multi-genre mobile esports competition that will end in a live Masters final event.

ESL Gaming CCO Rodrigo Samwell said: “The rapid rise of mobile esports is well-documented, and we’re incredibly proud of the role ESL has played in that to date.

“Our new collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and its Snapdragon brand will elevate our mobile ecosystem to its fullest potential. We’re excited to transform the future of mobile esports for players and fans around the world, continuing to create a world where everybody can be somebody.”

Qualcomm Technologies said that the event concept will utilise its Snapdragon powered devices which are integrated with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology for untethering the contestants and provide a breakthrough experience.

The company claimed that the hardware and software features of Snapdragon Elite Gaming provide premium, mobile-first features and enhancements. These include ultra-realistic graphics, advanced game optimisations, and lightning connectivity and performance speeds.

With the Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology, competitors will be able to use the power of desktop-level gaming for transforming their phones into premium gaming machines, said Qualcomm Technologies.

The Snapdragon Pro Series will have three tiers of competition that are Open, Challenger, and Masters to offer a total estimated prize money of $2m.

Qualcomm Technologies senior vice president and chief marketing officer Don McGuire said: “Snapdragon Elite Gaming has led the industry across the mobile gaming technology stack benefiting gamers at all levels and enabling the ecosystem to deliver best in class gameplay.

“In partnership with ESL, Snapdragon Pro Series will be an important additional pillar of our comprehensive gaming strategy allowing us to build category leadership in mobile esports globally.”
