Nokia has launched a cloud-native solution called Adaptive Cloud Networking, which is designed for transforming service provider cloud networks to be consumable, agile as well as automated.

The launch of the new solution was made at the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, Spain.

By supercharging a service provider’s data centre fabric and extending its operations seamlessly to the edge clouds, the new solution can respond to the unpredictable demands of the 5G era, said Nokia.

According to the Finnish technology firm, the innovation for developing and operating telco clouds will help service providers to strengthen the critical role they have in the 5G digital network value chain.

Nokia IP networks division vice president Vach Kompella said: “Nokia’s Adaptive Cloud Networking is about automating every phase of the data centre fabric and network lifecycle, including design, deployment and operations.

“Intent-based automation capabilities can be implemented every step of the way, supercharging service provider operational productivity without having to expand staff and skill set. We’re pleased to offer service providers a complete solution that will help them transform their business both now and into the future.”

Nokia claimed that the Adaptive Cloud Networking solution utilises its data centre fabric elements. These include the SR Linux network operating system, the Nokia 7220 and 7250 IXR hardware platforms, the Fabric Services System, and the Edge Network Controller.

The Finnish firm said that Edge Network Controller is a new solution, which is designed for automating the lifecycle management of edge cloud locations.

Adaptive Cloud Networking also makes use of the company’s Network Services Platform (NSP) for enabling programmable automation, and connecting data centres and edge clouds across the wide area network (WAN).

Furthermore, Nokia said that the Adaptive Cloud Networking solution in combination with the company’s new 5G Edge Slicing solution gives additional scope for service providers to generate value for enterprises.

Earlier this week, Nokia’s Bell Labs entered into a partnership with AT&T to develop a distributed massive multiple-input multiple-output (DmMIMO) technology for boosting uplink capacity and speeds in 5G networks.
