SAP said that Microsoft has decided to adopt the RISE with SAP business transformation service on Microsoft Cloud in a move to shift the latter’s SAP ERP software systems to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition.

According to SAP, the RISE with SAP solution will enable Microsoft in the quicker deployment of new capabilities and technologies.

Besides, the solution will help the American tech major operate its business on a flexible cloud-first solution which is integrated with the other cloud solutions from SAP that are already being used by it.

Launched in January 2021, RISE with SAP is said to offer customers at various stages of digital transformation a completely new way of redesigning processes for improved business outcomes.

Microsoft commerce + ecosystems president Charlotte Yarkoni said: “Our goal is to simplify and accelerate our own journey to SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

“Modernising highly complex, legacy SAP systems is directly relevant to us at Microsoft and to many of our customers. Leveraging the power of the RISE with SAP solution on Azure will give us the flexibility and agility needed to scale quickly, meet the needs of our own business and share that experience with our customers.”

Meanwhile, SAP said that it has also shifted many of its business-critical IT landscapes to the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform.

The German software major plans to optimise IT operations for certain critical internal business systems under the operations model used for the RISE with SAP solution hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform. The move is said to be part of SAP’s own transformative journey and to get operational efficiencies.

SAP chief digital and information officer Florian Roth said: “Microsoft’s move to RISE with SAP is a testament to the commitment and strength of SAP and Microsoft’s ongoing partnership to simplify customers’ journey to the cloud by accelerating adoption of SAP S/4HANA Cloud on Microsoft Azure.

“Likewise, SAP has optimised its critical internal business systems running on Microsoft Azure to benefit from its security, flexibility and scalability. We will be sure to use the learnings from these deployments and share best practices with our customers.”
