Indian bakery foods company Britannia Industries has partnered with Accenture to boost innovation through a digital transformation programme.

The enterprise-wide programme is aimed at enabling Britannia, which has a presence in more than 80 countries, to enhance customer and supplier experience.

It involved modernising Britannia’s business model by digitising its key services and processes to improve its capabilities in responding to changing market trends.

Partnering in the digital journey of the food company, Accenture has designed, developed and deployed a technology system based on SAP S/4HANA.

The system is said to have increased the visibility and accessibility of data for Britannia across the organisation.

According to Accenture, it has also allowed the company to increase the use of automation and analytics to make better business decisions.

Accenture’s products practice India managing director and lead Manish Gupta said: “Technology is a critical enabler for business leaders looking to spot and respond to evolving consumer and market demands.

“By transforming Britannia’s core operations, we have helped build a digital backbone that will not only benefit their entire value chain of suppliers, retailers and partners, but also creates a solid foundation for innovation and new growth opportunities in today’s integrated marketplace.”

As part of the digital transformation, more than 80 manufacturing units and 50 warehouses of Britannia have been digitised.

The programme is expected to enable the Indian company to reduce IT operational costs and unlock capital for innovation and growth initiatives.

By building effective business processes across manufacturing, finance, sales and supply chain management, the system developed by Accenture will also help Britannia improve inventory optimisation, product availability and workforce productivity.

Using SAP Ariba solutions, the project is also expected to support Britannia’s large network of suppliers in streamlining procurement and supply chain management.

SAP Ariba solutions are designed to expedite digital onboarding, contract management and procurement processes.
