IBM has launched a new hub called IBM Z and Cloud Modernization Center to help clients of its IBM Z enterprise platform accelerate their hybrid cloud journey.
According to the company, the hub provides a range of tools, resources, training, and ecosystem partners. Using these, IBM Z clients can expedite the modernisation of their applications, processes, and data in an open hybrid cloud architecture, said IBM.
The tech major stated that although several IBM Z clients are operating on modern infrastructure, they need to continue to modernise their applications and data to truly make use of the benefits of hybrid cloud.
Through IBM Z and Cloud Modernization Center, clients will get insights on maintaining their existing IT estate. This is said to allow clients to focus on designing and implementing a strategy for their key applications and data running on IBM Z to prepare for a shift to a hybrid cloud.
Furthermore, clients can get a detailed assessment of their IT and business objectives, modernisation of existing data and apps to extend them to the cloud. This includes IBM Cloud as well as third-party hyperscalers, and building new cloud-native apps and integrating them with existing data and apps that are already present on the IBM Z platform.
IBM Z ecosystem VP Meredith Stowell said: “The reality is that the future is hybrid, where IBM Z and Cloud are better together. While lift and shift migration may seem like an attractive choice for modernisation, in many cases it can be a one-way street and lock-in to one public cloud which may have implications on cost, governance and security.
“IBM deeply understands the IBM Z environment, cloud ecosystem and the industries that rely on us, and we’ve brought together all the elements needed to help our clients adopt hybrid cloud in one place.”
The main zones of the IBM Z and Cloud Modernization Center are said to be domain-specific expertise, ecosystem of major services and technology partners, and additional resources that includes links to a learning hub.
The ecosystem partners include Capgemini, Deloitte Consulting, Episode Six, Fujitsu, Fiorano Software, Zafin, and MuleSoft among others.
