IBM has acquired Neudesic, a US-based cloud services consultancy that mainly specialises in the Microsoft Azure platform.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Neudesic, which was founded in 2002, is also said to bring skills in multi-cloud for IBM. Its acquisition is expected to considerably grow IBM’s portfolio of hybrid multi-cloud services.

Besides, the acquisition will take its hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy further forward, said IBM.

Based in California, Neudesic is claimed to employ over 1,500 cloud and data experts across the US and in India.

The company offers digital transformation services in advisory, cloud migration, application development, integration, data engineering, DevOps, hyper-automation, and data visualisation.

Neudesic is said to have expertise in technology transformation. The firm provides Microsoft Azure cloud services to clients in the health and life sciences, energy and utilities, financial services, retail industries, and professional services.

Neudesic co-founder and CEO Parsa Rohani said: “As a Microsoft Gold Partner with multiple Azure competencies, Neudesic is excited to enhance IBM’s hybrid cloud strategy with extensive Azure capabilities.

“The combination of our capabilities with IBM’s hybrid cloud vision and scale will drive even more impactful innovation for clients.”

According to IBM, the cloud and data consultants of Neudesic will join IBM Consulting’s hybrid cloud services business. The addition of the California-based firm is expected to improve IBM’s ability to enable clients in meeting their business requirements with multi-cloud technologies.

IBM Consulting senior vice president John Granger said: “As one of the leading cloud platforms, Microsoft Azure is key to many of our clients’ ability to modernise and innovate.

“Neudesic adds deep Azure cloud, data engineering and data analytics expertise to accelerate our clients’ hybrid cloud journeys. This builds upon IBM’s prior acquisitions of cloud transformation capabilities last year.”

Earlier this month, IBM acquired Sentaca, a US-based telecommunications consulting services and solutions provider, in a bid to expedite its hybrid cloud consulting business.
