Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched new file, block, disaster and backup recovery data services developed to support clients in removing data silos, decreasing cost and complexity, and enhancing performance.

Built on HPE Alletra Storage MP, the new data services are expected to offer scale-out, enterprise-grade performance for data-intensive workloads.

The expanded block services will deliver mission-critical storage with mid-range economics, said HPE.

By utilising a flexible architecture through HPE Alletra Storage MP, the new file and block offerings will help customers to store, operate, and secure all data types from a single platform across the hybrid cloud.

The HPE Alletra Storage MP system is said to support a disaggregated architecture with several storage protocols running on the same hardware and capable of scaling independently for both performance and capacity.

According to HPE, the new data services will offer a cloud operating experience to allow customers to transform data lifecycle management.

HPE storage executive vice president and general manager Tom Black said: “Customers today face unprecedented challenges in managing their data. The rapid increase in the volume and complexity of data has forced organisations to manage it all with a costly combination of siloed storage solutions.

“The new HPE GreenLake data services and expanded HPE Alletra innovations make it easier and more economical to manage multiple types of data, storage protocols, and workloads, allowing customers to focus on accelerating innovation and driving business results.”

HPE has also incorporated data platform company VAST Data’s file software platform into the new HPE GreenLake for file storage service.

Recently, HPE announced the acquisition of cloud security provider Axis Security in a move to expand its edge-to-cloud security capabilities.
