Swedish telecommunications firm Ericsson has launched an Internet of Things (IoT) solution called IoT Accelerator Connect to simplify IoT connectivity for enterprises.

According to the company, the new solution provides a reliable and secure cellular IoT platform to help communications service providers (CSPs) and enterprises scale their IoT business across tens of millions of devices.

Ericsson claimed that with just one click, the IoT Accelerator Connect solution gives plug-and-play access to enterprises to cellular IoT connectivity.

The solution is said to address the problem of difficult, complex, and time-consuming integrations in IoT projects. It helps enterprises overcome such challenges by transforming digital sales and automation of business processes within the IoT ecosystem and serving user requirements.

Ericsson IoT general manager Kyle Okamoto said: “We’re proud to make it easier than ever before for enterprises of any size to instantly engage with, and benefit from, the world of IoT connectivity.

“By offering plug-and-play simplicity, Ericsson IoT Accelerator Connect marks a major leap in transforming access to IoT connectivity. This solution covers connectivity of devices, networks and clouds, while removing hurdles for enterprises, communications service providers, hyperscale cloud providers, resellers and module vendors, to accelerate the growth of their IoT businesses.”

For enterprises, IoT Accelerator Connect provides a unifying layer of packaged services to minimise complexity, said Ericsson.

On the other hand, for developers, the solution helps them with instant access to the most appropriate connectivity for their specific use case, coverage, and service level requirements. Besides, developers get access to automated bootstrapping of devices as well as data destinations, said the Swedish firm.

Furthermore, at any time, devices can be connected by using the solution. This includes end-to-end onboarding of the device with a cellular IoT-ready module that will instantly connect the subscription to the preferred network of the customer.

Additionally, the new IoT solution from Ericsson is said to make it simpler to connect devices to public cloud endpoints.

The IoT Accelerator Connect includes integrated services such as IoT Accelerator Cloud Connect, IoT Accelerator Device Connect, IoT Accelerator Connect Hub, IoT Accelerator Developer Portal, and IoT Accelerator Embedded Connect.

Earlier this month, Ericsson had announced a collaboration with Digital Nasional Berhad and the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) to leverage 5G to expedite the development of innovation clusters at the MRANTI Park campus in Bukit Jalil, Malaysia.
