Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has revealed plans to integrate his new artificial intelligence (AI) company xAI into the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The X owner responded in a tweet to a user’s post asking whether xAI will launch its own app as: “It will both be built into the 𝕏 app and be available as a standalone app.”

Musk also announced the release of xAI’s first AI model, dubbed Grok. The new bot has been developed to help users in finding answers to questions with a touch of humour.

The AI startup company posted on X, saying: “Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humour!

“A unique and fundamental advantage of Grok is that it has real-time knowledge of the world via the 𝕏 platform. It will also answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems.”

According to xAI, Grok is a very early beta product and has been trained for two months. It is expected to showcase improvements with each week.

The Grok AI assistant is made available to all X Premium+ subscribers. The premium version of the social media platform is offered at a price of $16 per month via web.

The formation of xAI with a mission to understand the true nature of the universe was announced by the X owner in July this year.

Led by Musk, the AI company’s team includes members who previously worked at OpenAI, DeepMind, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto.
