Cognizant has bagged a multi-year contract from Indian insurance company National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) to expedite and help manage the latter’s digital transformation.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

NICL, which is a public sector general insurance company, selected Cognizant as its strategic technology provider to further bolster its operational efficiency and elevate its future-ready technology roadmap.

Cognizant vice president and India country head Achal Kataria said: “We are committed to supporting forward-looking technology vision of National Insurance Company and facilitating their digital transformation journey.

“Our strong technology consulting and digital capabilities will be applied to assist NICL in offering an improved and secure customer experience.”

Under the contract, Cognizant will be responsible to help the insurer manage its centralised web-based core insurance solution, which is made up of various applications, supporting technology infrastructure and security.

Cognizant will also provide consulting services and other things to the insurer.

Additionally, the US-based IT company will support NICL’s technology roadmap by making use of digital technologies like artificial intelligence, automation, machine learning, and microservices-based architecture.

The company said that its plan is designed to enable NICL enhance customer experience at all the steps of their journey. These cover applications, processing of claims, and underwriting.

Cognizant will also help the insurer continue to improve ease of doing business, application security, offer increased operational agility and efficiency, financial and regulatory compliance, as well as drive growth for its business.

Earlier this year, the IT company entered into a partnership with tech major Microsoft for developing a new digital health solution aimed at enhancing remote patient monitoring.
