mCloud Technologies, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) powered asset management and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) solutions, is partnering with Google Cloud to launch three AI-powered sustainability applications, aimed at curbing carbon emissions around the world.

As part of the partnership, the US-based company will combine its AssetCare platform with Google Cloud’s capabilities and reach along with other services like Google Earth Engine.

mCloud Technologies said that its applications deliver “Results-as-a-Service” and target oil and gas facilities, wind farms, and commercial buildings.

The sustainability applications will apply the company’s capabilities in industrial AI, 3D digital twin, and visual analytics for measuring, locating, and correcting dangerous emissions, minimising footprints of carbon and methane, eliminating energy waste, and maximising the contributions of renewable wind power globally.

Google Cloud VP/GM and platform head Amit Zavery said: “We are pleased to work with innovative partners like mCloud to help address the challenge of eliminating harmful GHG emissions in the energy industry.

“By leveraging Google Cloud and capabilities made possible with Google Earth Engine and AI/ML services, customers will be able to increase their sustainability efforts by optimising and mitigating their carbon and methane emissions with technology and at cloud scale.”

The partnership will see mCloud Technologies join the Google Partner Advantage programme.

The two firms intend to jointly market and deliver the three AI-powered sustainability applications to customers around the world. They will cater to specific customers in the US, the UK and Europe, Canada, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Japan in addition to their common major customers globally.

mCloud Technologies, in collaboration with Google Cloud, will directly integrate and utilise the core services of the latter. These include Google Earth Engine, Natural Language AI, Vision AI, TensorFlow, Translation AI, and others to enable powerful capabilities to drive the sustainability of asset- and energy-intensive activities.

mCloud Technologies president and CEO Russ McMeekin said: “The direct collaboration between one of the industry’s most innovative clouds and its AI capabilities, such as Google Earth Engine, and mCloud’s AssetCare creates substantial new operating efficiencies.

“This means our new sustainability applications will be able to: precisely localize and target harmful emissions at the equipment level, use AI with live wind and solar data to maximise the utility of renewable energy sources, and automatically optimise the emissions footprint of assets everywhere through cloud-based capabilities.”
