GE has launched a new digital product portfolio called Lifespan, which is designed to help customers in optimising the performance of renewable assets and operations across their fleet.

According to the American conglomerate, the new suite of fully integrated, technology agnostic products were designed alongside operators to drive enhanced operations.

GE claimed that Lifespan will help in connecting operators with the details and insights needed to drive action seamlessly across every aspect of their organisation to support quickly growing fleets. This helps them by giving real-time command and control, deep insights into fleet and site performance, and allowing the transition to condition-based maintenance for optimising production of energy.

GE onshore wind digital services CEO Anne McEntee said: “With Lifespan, we took digital transformation to the next level. This new platform really shows how digital solutions can help the wind industry get the best value and outcome out of the huge wind energy fleet that exists today and will keep growing over time.”

GE said that the Lifespan solutions were developed through its experience of operating its services fleet. The new suite is expected to help operators in understanding the status of their assets for making optimum choices at all stages.

The conglomerate is said to have tested the new digital product portfolio on its managed assets that include 40,000 wind turbines, that feature 20 different wind turbine types across eight different original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Presently, Lifespan is said to support the daily work of 5,000 field technicians.

GE onshore wind digital services chief digital officer Brian Case said: “Lifespan came to life to solve significant challenges for GE’s customers and across our service fleets.

“We designed the product to connect all aspects of the organisation to drive efficient operations; deploying the latest technology to create an integrated user experience, robust data management, expanded analytics, and provide information at the fingertips of field teams and our customers.”
