It is the age of millennials and famous entrepreneurs are getting younger and younger.

With the aid of the internet – YouTube, Vine, Snapchat and Instagram have created very young, successful entrepreneurs all across the world.

But Frankie says relax… you’re not past it! For those of us who remember when the year began with a 19 and dinosaurs roamed the earth, you can still make a success of your life – and your business.

Here is a list of famous entrepreneurs who made their millions much later in life.

Jan Koum and Brian Acton– age 33 and 37 – Whatsapp

Back in 2009, Jan Koum and Brian Acton registered their brand new company WhatsApp Inc. Now, in 2017 almost every phone, tablet and computer has access to the messenger app.  Bought out by the behemoth that is Facebook in 2014 for a tasty $19, Billion.

 

Reid Hoffman – age 35 – LinkedIn

Reid Hoffman created the social powerhouse back in 2002 and grew it from the ground up. LinkedIn helps people across the globe social network and to create business contacts. Microsoft acquired the site for $26.2 Billion in December 2016.

 

Doris and Donald Fisher – age 37 and 40 – GAP

In 1969 Doris and her husband Donald founded the clothing chain GAP. The pair would often struggle to find jeans that fit properly, so they decided to sell them themselves! Doris at 37 and Donald, 40, opened their first store in San Francisco. Less than a year later they had opened a second store. The company continued to grow and grow and today is worth about $9.5 Billion.

Henry Ford – age 40- Ford

After a lifetime of unsuccessful business ventures, at the age of 40, Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford made such a huge impact on the automobile landscape by building affordable cars for regular people. Ford later tricked all of his investors into selling him their shares of the company allowing his family sole ownership. Sneaky. The Ford Motor Company is now worth an estimated $54.2 Billion.

Ray Kroc – age 52 – McDonald’s

The McDonald brothers started the fast food business in 1940, then the duo then opened their first franchise in 1953. Businessman Ray Kroc joined the company in 1955 and bought out the company from the brothers. Kroc founded the McDonald’s Corporation and grew the company to what we all know it as today. By the time of Ray Kroc’s death in 1984, McDonald’s had 7,500 locations in 31 countries and was worth $8 billion. Today the company is currently worth around $110.1 Billion.

John Pemberton – age 55 – Coca Cola

Pharmacist John Pemberton accidentally stumbled upon the secret recipe for the world’s most iconic beverage in 1886. He was frantically trying to come up with a cure for his morphine addiction.  Today the Coca-Cola Company is worth an estimated $73.1 billion.

Hartland Sanders – age 65 – KFC

This completes our famous fast food trio, with Kentucky Fried Chicken. Hartland Sanders never gave up on his finger lickin’ dreams of owning a restaurant serving his own ‘original recipe chicken.’ By the grand old age of 65, The Colonel finally opened his first KFC franchise in Utah. By the time of his death in 1980, there were an estimated 6,000 KFC outlets across the world.
