German enterprise application software firm SAP has acquired US-based talent data intelligence provider SwoopTalent for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 2012, SwoopTalent developed an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that combines, analyses and trains data from disparate human resource (HR) systems and workflows.

With the acquisition, SAP plans to leverage SwoopTalent’s technology to boost its AI capabilities and offer clients an overall picture of their people, ranging from skills and capabilities to interests and learning preferences.

This will help match employees to internal jobs, projects, learning courses and mentors, said the German firm.

SAP said that integrating SwoopTalent’s data and machine learning technology across its SuccessFactors solutions will further the German firm’s vision of human experience management (HXM).

SAP SuccessFactors chief product officer Meg Bear said: “Delivering individualisation at scale requires a sophisticated, powerful data platform that extends across multiple systems.

“By making workforce data more reliable and accessible, we can help our customers gain powerful insights about their people to effectively upskill, reskill and redeploy talent and future-proof their business.

“The founders of SwoopTalent are industry thought leaders with proven expertise using data, machine learning and analytics to elevate HR and make organizations more competitive. We are thrilled to have them join SAP to further our HXM strategy.”

As part of the acquisition, several SwoopTalent engineering staff will join the SAP SuccessFactors team.

According to SAP, its HXM suite offers cloud-based solutions for core HR and payroll, talent management, employee experience management, and people analytics.

It prioritises individualised employee experiences and dynamic opportunities that boost engagement, enhance organisational agility and fuel business transformation.

SwoopTalent CEO and founder Stacy Chapman said: “Organisations are at a pivotal moment as work is being redefined around agility, purpose and culture.

“With HXM, SAP has the right vision and strategy to deliver technology that enables individuals to upskill and create a career that aligns to their interests and skills.

“SAP and SwoopTalent are a great cultural fit and share the same values. We are excited to continue advancing HXM together.”
