The joint venture will promote the adoption of EV charging infrastructure in the Indian subcontinent

Enel Group’s advanced energy solutions business Enel X has entered into a joint venture with Sterling and Wilson (SWPL) for the e-mobility market in India.
Expected to be incorporated on 1 April 2021, the joint venture will start operating from the second quarter of 2021.
It will be aimed at speeding up the electric vehicle (EV) uptake in the Indian subcontinent, by targeting private and public EV charging infrastructure.
To promote the adoption of EV charging infrastructure in the region, the joint venture will leverage Enel X’s technological know-how and e-Mobility experience as well as the engineering, operations and deployment expertise of SWPL.
The joint venture will market and distribute solutions that are customised to the needs of India. The solutions will include JuiceBox and JuicePump, which have been licenced by Enel X.
With Enel X’s charging infrastructures’ back-end platform, the joint venture will also contribute to the spread of connected charging infrastructures and technology.

India has joined the global electrification trend and has been supporting policies since 2019. Recently, the country has updated the Charging Infrastructure for EV Guidelines.
Enel X is engaged in driving the creation of public and private charging infrastructure to overcome usage barriers.
In December last year, the company announced that it EV charging network expanded to more than 90,000 public charging points available to users of its JuicePass app across Europe.
