Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled new Snapdragon Digital Chassis connected car technologies to meet the growing demand for premium driving experiences and connected in-vehicle services.

According to Qualcomm Technologies, Snapdragon Digital Chassis is a set of technology solutions for developing connected and intelligent vehicles that are customisable, safer, immersive, and can be continuously upgradeable.

At MWC Barcelona 2022 trade show, the US-based chipmaker introduced a feature for Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Services – Connectivity-as-a-Service.

The new feature is said to bring new technology collaborations to underpin integrated analytics, out-of-the-box connectivity, and a cloud and device developer environment for providing new technology features, content, and services around the world.

The Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform and Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Services are said to be integral components of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis.

According to Qualcomm Technologies, the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Services is designed to support a highly personalised user experience that can be refreshed continually throughout the lifecycle of a vehicle.

The services are claimed to offer a hassle-free upgrade path with the ability to increase system performance and features, while also being capable of facilitating new digital services.

Powered by telemetry data and advanced data insights derived from connected vehicles, the tools offered in the developer environment solve complexities faced by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) when developing connected services on telematics hardware, said the company.

Qualcomm Technologies senior vice president and automotive GM Nakul Duggal said: “At Qualcomm Technologies, we understand that automakers need unique, comprehensive and connected solutions to meet dynamic demands and power 21st century vehicles.

“By expanding our in-vehicle connectivity offerings to provide a transformative, scalable, extensive suite of solutions through the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, we are confident the automotive industry will be able to deliver the unmatched next-generation driving experiences customers deserve.”

At MWC Barcelona 2022, Qualcomm Technologies also showcased an integrated application framework called Snapdragon Telematics Applications Framework for building telematics and cloud-connected applications and services.

Besides, the American semiconductor company disclosed a new Wi-Fi 6E automotive chipset designed to boost bandwidth for Wi-Fi applications and deliver content at very high speeds.
