Nokia said that it is expanding its lab-as-a-service (LaaS) solution to expedite the digital transformation of companies.

The expansion of the LaaS solution is for including the validation testing of industrial user equipment and third-party devices linking people and machines across Nokia digital automation cloud (DAC) and modular private wireless (MPW) networks.

According to the Finnish firm, the expansion will enable enterprises to optimise the testing of equipment and Industry 4.0 use cases over private wireless to evaluate the ways to achieve their digital transformation targets.

Nokia has also announced a device testing facility in Bengaluru, India to enable more clients to fast-track Industry 4.0 service adoption.

With the LaaS solution, enterprise customers can evaluate how equipment and devices working over 4.9G/LTE and 5G private wireless networks will help in their implementation of Industry 4.0 use cases.

By utilising DAC and MPW, customers will understand how enterprise, third-party or Nokia industrial devices such as fieldrouters, dongles, handhelds and wearables will connect machines and people and how that can advance their journey of digitalisation.

The capabilities of the new Nokia LaaS device validation add to the existing services available to serve chipset, device manufacturers, communication service providers (CSPs), and businesses that want to add new elements to their networks and devices.

Nokia LaaS will enable companies to test device capabilities at their locations or in Nokia labs without needing any investment from the consumer.

Nokia enterprise campus edge solutions vice president Stephan Litjens said: “Nokia is committed to supporting our enterprise customers to achieve their digitalization goals in the most intuitive ways.

“Device validation will be an essential part of Lab-as-a-Service, allowing them to accelerate service adoption. Enterprises will be able to experiment with devices, use cases, with no up-front investment, to see how they deliver the greatest value from their operations over private wireless networks using Nokia DAC or MPW.

“In addition, by opening the dedicated facility in Bangalore, we can extend these capabilities to even more enterprise customers across the world.”
