Amentum has secured a $4.6bn single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from the US Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate to deliver commercial buying solutions for foreign military sales (FMS) customers.

The engineering company’s buying solutions will leverage technologies including reverse engineering, robotic process automation (RPA), 3D scanning and additive manufacturing, as well as other automated best-value decision tools.

The solutions are said to enhance systems and provide cost efficiencies to over 105 foreign partner countries.

The contract commenced on 1 March 2023. It includes one five-year base period and five one-year option periods.

As part of the tri-service capable contract, Amentum will provide commercial buying solutions covering supply, maintenance, and task orders to support Navy, Air Force, and Army FMS customers.

The company will also offer engineering, prototyping, and testing solutions to enhance or replace outdated parts.

Amentum’s PROS VI Contractor Technology Solution offering will include advanced features in RPA, real-time transportation tracking, and an automated best-value decision tool, stated the company.

Besides, it will feature client-accessible dashboards, custom metrics management, security features and connections to multiple government information technology systems.

The company has collaborated with Platform Aerospace, Wencor, Brighton-Cromwell, and the Naval Air Warfare Center’s AIRWorks team to offer a full-service reverse engineering, first article testing, and parts manufacturing approval capability.

Amentum critical missions business group president Karl Spinnenweber said: “Amentum’s decades-long experience in procurement makes us the best partner to the USAF on the Parts and Repairs Ordering System VI (PROS VI) contract.

“We plan to leverage our substantial supply chain experience, extensive supplier relationships and advanced automation technologies to satisfy the parts and repairs challenges associated with the broad range of aging FMS platforms.”
