Indian IT company Wipro has signed an agreement to acquire US-based cybersecurity consulting provider Edgile for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is expected to help Wipro to address the growing demand for cybersecurity consulting among Global 2000 enterprises.

The solutions offered by the Austin-headquartered Edgile focus on risk and compliance, information and cloud security, and digital identity.

Edgile claims to have business-aligned cybersecurity capability, an in-depth understanding of the changing regulatory environment and an ability to enable cloud transformations for enterprises.

Wipro and Edgile intend to develop an integrated suite, called Wipro CyberTransform, to allow enterprises to improve boardroom governance of cybersecurity risk and invest in robust cyber strategies.

The offering will be aimed at speeding up the digital transformation of organisations and enabling them to operate in virtual, digital supply chains.

Wipro cybersecurity and risk services senior vice president and global head Tony Buffomante said: “Adding Edgile’s strategic consulting capabilities and launching Wipro CyberTransform are significant milestones on our journey to becoming the trusted partner to security leaders and boardroom stakeholders.

“I see the team blending very well with Wipro’s CyberSecurists to deliver transformational cybersecurity on a global scale.”

The transaction will lead to the exit of Abry Partners, Edgile’s minority private equity investor, from its investment in the company.

Piper Sandler served as financial advisor to Edgile for the transaction, while Stone Key Partners acted as financial advisor to Wipro.

The transaction is anticipated to be closed before 31 March 2022, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

With Edgile’s strategy-first approach and ‘Quick Start’ solutions, Wipro expects to provide enhanced value in strategic cybersecurity services.

Earlier this year, the Indian IT services firm had announced the acquisition of Ampion, a provider of cybersecurity services in Australia, and the cybersecurity practice at Capco to boost its cybersecurity business.
