QAD, a Thoma Bravo-backed provider of cloud-based manufacturing and supply chain solutions, has acquired US-based connected workforce platform Redzone.

Redzone offers connected workforce solutions for the manufacturing sector. Its platform is said to enable frontline teams in contributing their full potential.

The company’s solutions are claimed to be used by more than 1,000 plants and 300,000 frontline workers globally to develop a better employee experience for frontline teams.

Besides, the solutions enhance productivity by energising and equipping teams with the digital workflows and collaboration tools they need to maximise their shifts.

The acquisition of Redzone’s connected workforce product is expected to bolster the QAD Adaptive Applications product suite by allowing QAD users in driving quick and tangible increases in empowerment, retention, and productivity on the frontline.

Redzone co-founder and CEO Richard Tester said: “We have always put the frontline worker at the heart of our technology and know that arming these teams with the right digital workflows is the fastest way to unlock productivity on the plant floor.

“Redzone has been the leader in the food and beverage and CPG industry but more recently expanded into the automotive, life sciences and discrete manufacturing verticals with great success.

“With QAD’s expertise in these aligned verticals, combined with its large global customer base and footprint, Redzone will experience more growth further cementing our position as the category leader.”

QAD was taken private by US-based private equity firm Thoma Bravo for nearly $2bn in cash in November 2021.

Prior to the acquisition of Redzone, QAD snapped up Livejourney in December 2022. Livejourney offers a real-time process mining and predictive modelling solution developed to discover, monitor, and enhance business operations.

By adding Redzone to its fold, QAD expects to offer manufacturers a comprehensive end-to-end solution that allows them to fully realise the potential of the Adaptive Enterprise from supplier to end customer as well as the shopfloor to the top floor.

QAD CEO Anton Chilton said: “We believe the emerging connected workforce space is the most transformational area of technology for manufacturing companies.

“As we assessed the market for the category leader, it was evident that not only is Redzone the #1 provider globally but also the pioneer of the category and the one who continues to define it.”
