Egypt’s network operator Telecom Egypt has collaborated with IBM to deliver an all-encompassing solution for all its operations support systems (OSS) on mobile, fixed, and core networks by adopting intelligent automation technologies.

Under the collaboration, Telecom Egypt will execute IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions and adopt IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps installed on RedHat OpenShift.

The solution will be developed to offer the network operator a comprehensive view of their entire IT environment.

It is also expected to support them innovate quickly by cutting operational costs and reducing the time required to troubleshoot and resolve network related incidents.

Telecom Egypt managing director and CEO Adel Hamed said: “We are always keen on investing in developing and modernising our networks to ensure that our customers receive the best communication and information technology services.

“We are happy to work with IBM as our technology partner to improve our networks’ operational efficiency, leverage automation capabilities and reduce the time required to monitor and repair incidents, thus improving the quality of services provided to our customers.”

IBM RPA, a component of IBM Cloud Pack for Business Automation, will allow Telecom Egypt’s engineers and IT operators to monitor the network’s operating capacity and service quality throughout Egypt, enabling the reduction of operational and reporting time.

According to IBM, this technique, if done manually, would need to send power signals across central offices and cabins to locate the weak points and areas, which could take at least 18 hours of compiling and revising data.

The telecom operator will have access to performance data and dependencies across their environments with IBM‘s intelligent automation technologies.

Besides, the new solution is expected to enable Telecom Egypt to discover, analyse, address and fix complex IT issues in dynamic and complex environments.

IBM Egypt general manager Marwa Abbas said: “The telecommunications industry is witnessing major transformation, and they are relying on new intelligent automation and cloud solutions to help enable accurate, fast and flexible business operations, as well as improved services to end customers.

“We are happy to extend our work with TE by providing our automation solutions, which will help TE to efficiently manage their networks and drive further digital advancement.”
