Indian IT services company Tech Mahindra has announced a partnership with open source solutions provider Red Hat to help communications service providers (CSPs) to transform infrastructure and migration to the cloud.

The collaboration is expected to help telecom operators to migrate critical 5G and multi-access edge computing (MEC) workloads to the hybrid cloud. This will be done by leveraging Red Hat OpenShift Service on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Tech Mahindra’s hyper-automation platform netOps.ai.

According to Tech Mahindra, the new solution combines a range of products and services through the integration of diverse platforms to deploy a distributed, multi-vendor 5G Core, edge, and MEC solution in a hybrid and multi cloud environment.

Besides, it will expedite the adoption of 5G use cases for CSPs.

Tech Mahindra 5G and network services business global head Manish Mangal said: “5G deployment on hybrid cloud with hyper automation will become a strategic imperative for CSPs in reducing their capital and operational expenditure.

“Tech Mahindra’s deep industry expertise, innovative netOps.ai platform, and strong partnership with Red Hat enables rapid modernization of infrastructure, applications, and data.

“Together with Red Hat we are enabling CSPs and enterprises with a competitive edge by simplifying the 5G Core, Edge and MEC ecosystem.”

By leveraging Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS, on-premises and Tech Mahindra netOps.ai, the solution will allow operators to build and deploy 5G use cases with a clearer migration strategy.

It will help them to shift network workloads from on-premises to hybrid and multi-cloud environments without modifying their current software stack.

The solution is expected to address multi-domain network transformation across 5G Core, transport, RAN, and enterprise edge use cases.

Red Hat telco, media, entertainment and edge ecosystem vice president Honoré LaBourdette said: “Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS is a turnkey application platform that provides managed containerized workloads natively on AWS, helping service providers quickly build, deploy and scale 5G and edge applications for faster results.

“By teaming up with Tech Mahindra to offer its network automation solution with Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS, we are able to better equip service providers with the tools they need to be successful in the cloud.”

Last week, the Indian IT services company extended its partnership with Microsoft as an Azure Operator Nexus ready systems integrator.
