Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a risk-based monitoring solution for clinical trials designed to help with intelligent decision making as well as to increase compliance and enhance study efficacy.

The new solution is part of the TCS ADD suite of modern and open drug development platform for life sciences.

According to TCS, biopharmaceutical and contract research organisations (CROs) by using its agile and intuitive monitoring solution can identify study and site risks. The advanced statistical algorithms of the solutions will help them make intelligent data driven decisions, said the Indian IT company.

Furthermore, TCS said that its data science led risk-based monitoring solution can predict outcomes related to site workload and risks with precision. This will help stakeholders to determine proactive monitoring strategies, said the company.

The risk-based monitoring solution from TCS is made up of intelligent risk management, predictive analytics based on artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), more than 40 operational metrics, and a one-click communication module.

TCS life sciences healthcare, and public services business group head Debashis Ghosh said: “With COVID 19 critically impacting site visits, life sciences industries realised the value of remote Risk Based Monitoring solutions that empower sponsors to monitor trials centrally, assess the risks and track corrective actions to enhance study quality.

“With our deep domain knowledge of the life sciences industry, we are continually expanding the capabilities of our modern and open TCS ADD platform to include data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning led clinical operational analytics solutions that transform the drug development value chain, deliver greater value for our customers and achieve faster compliance.”

The intelligent risk management feature of the new solution is said to enable automated triggers for outliers with visualisations and advanced analytics.

With the one-click communication module, a unified and collated list of pending activities can be obtained along with system generated intelligent actions for all source systems. This will drive better engagement and collaboration, said TCS.
