Qualcomm Technologies and French IT company Capgemini have announced a collaboration to drive 5G private network deployments for industries.

Under the partnership, the two companies will work together to unlock the benefits of 5G private networks to support their clients’ digital transformation towards Intelligent Industry.

The collaboration is expected to enable clients to gain access to an off-the-shelf private network system that is fully tested and validated.

Capgemini 5G and edge computing group leader Fotis Karonis said: “This collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies aims to help us provide a simplified yet powerful end-to-end private network solution for clients in all industries. We expect clients to leverage this to implement solutions across a large variety of potential sites and use cases.”

Capgemini, in partnership with Qualcomm, is anticipated to offer quick, easy access to the benefits of private networks in industrial and enterprise settings, including for the digital enterprise, smart warehouses, and industrial IoT.

Utilising Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G Private network system, the IT services and consulting company will serve as a systems integrator to facilitate clients’ business transformation.

Karonis said: “By utilising Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise in cellular connectivity with Capgemini’s industry-leading business transformation services and systems integration capabilities, we envision that more and more companies will be able to benefit from cellular private networks to increase efficiency and speed of innovation.

“We look forward to collaborating with Qualcomm Technologies and our clients to design and implement many more private networks in the months and years ahead.”

As part of the collaboration, organisations will be provided with enhanced end-to-end carrier-grade interoperability in a wireless 5G industry ecosystem, which consists of connected devices, connected equipment and 5G Private Network infrastructure.

Capgemini is expected to develop end-to-end solutions for clients, by leveraging 5G private networks at scale.

To create the solutions, the company will utilise its enterprise systems, edge compute capabilities, use cases, cloud and data/AI, interface with management systems and other bespoke elements.

Recently, Qualcomm introduced its second-generation 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) platform for small cells with global spectrum band support.

The platform is developed to take mmWave performance to more places, indoors and outdoors, and around the globe.
