Palantir Technologies has won a contract from the US Army to provide intelligence data fabric and analytics solution for the Capability Drop 2 (CD-2) programme.

The big data analytics company was selected to advance to the next phase of the Army’s $823m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract.

Following a collaboration with the Army on a “test, fix, test” process, the company will now help the latter as they move to the final testing and fielding stage.

The company’s selection was made by the Army’s programme manager for intelligence systems and analytics. It had competed with BAE Systems for the contract.

Palantir will deploy its Gotham platform to support Army Intelligence users around the world with a globally federated intelligence data fabric and analytics platform that spans various security classifications.

According to Palantir, the platform will provide modern data integration, correlation, fusion, and analytic capabilities to prepare the Army for the next fight against evolving near peer threats.

The Gotham platform is an operating system designed to enable defense decision making. It is designed particularly for connecting the dots between disparate sources, said the data software company.

The Army Intelligence Community will leverage the capability for modernising their data foundation by moving legacy programs to CD-2. Besides, the Army will use CD-2 to serve as an enabler for modernisation efforts in the future for supporting joint all domain operations.

Palantir said that CD-2 is one of the programmes it is working on with the US Program Executive Officer Intelligence Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S) to modernise the Army’s intelligence enterprise. The other programmes include Capability Drop 1 (CD-1) and Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node (TITAN).

Palantir global defense lead Doug Philippone said: “We look forward to the continued partnership with PEO IEW&S and the Army’s Intelligence Community in providing new and exciting technology that help them in their modernisation efforts.”
