Microsoft has launched a new service category called Microsoft Security Experts to help organisations in achieving more secure, compliant, and productive outcomes.

According to Microsoft, Security Experts is said to enable businesses to extend their ability to defend and manage with a new line of managed services from the company’s experts.

The new service category includes three new managed services, which are Microsoft Defender Experts for Hunting, Microsoft Defender Experts for extended detection and response (XDR), and Microsoft Security Services for Enterprise.

It also offers two existing services that are Microsoft Security Experts for Modernization, and Microsoft Security Experts for Incident Response.

Microsoft security, compliance and identity corporate vice president Vasu Jakkal said: “As attacks increase in scale, so must our defenses. It’s getting harder every day for organizations to build and maintain a full security team, let alone one with the ever-expanding skillset required to meet the range of today’s security demands.

“This is why we are launching Microsoft Security Experts, which combines expert-trained technology with human-led services to help organisations achieve more secure, compliant, and productive outcomes. It is our vision of delivering this category of services end-to-end, across security, compliance, identity, management, and privacy.”

The Microsoft Defender Experts for Hunting service has been designed for customers who have a strong security operations centre but want Microsoft to proactively help them in hunting for threats across Microsoft Defender data, including Office 365, endpoints, identity, and cloud applications.

Microsoft Defender Experts for XDR can be availed by customers who want to extend the capacity of their security operations centre.

The managed XDR service stretches beyond endpoints to offer detection and response across Microsoft 365 Defender and investigates alerts. It uses automation as well as human expertise to respond to incidents along with the security team of the business.

Defender Experts for XDR will move into preview later this year, said Microsoft.

The third new service, which is Microsoft Security Services for Enterprise, is for large enterprises who need more comprehensive, high-touch managed services from Microsoft’s experts.

This expert-led service combines proactive threat hunting and managed XDR. It makes use of Microsoft’s complete security information and event management (SIEM) and XDR stack to safeguard all platforms and cloud environments.
