Microsoft has introduced Microsoft Security Copilot, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered cybersecurity tool to rapidly discover and respond to threats as well as enhance the understanding of the overall threat landscape.

The new offering is expected to leverage Microsoft’s threat intelligence footprint and expertise to improve security professionals’ work through an easy-to-use AI assistant.

Microsoft security corporate vice president Vasu Jakkal said: “Today the odds remain stacked against cybersecurity professionals. Too often, they fight an asymmetric battle against relentless and sophisticated attackers.

“With Security Copilot, we are shifting the balance of power into our favour. Security Copilot is the first and only generative AI security product enabling defenders to move at the speed and scale of AI.”

According to the company, Microsoft Security Copilot will seamlessly work with security teams, enabling the professionals to observe their environment, correlate threat activity, and learn from existing intelligence.

It is also expected to help the cybersecurity personnels to make better informed and effective decisions at machine speed.

By summarising and understanding threat intelligence, the new AI cybersecurity tool will reduce complexity and enhance the capabilities of security teams. The tool enables professionals to see through online traffic noise and discover malicious behaviour.

Besides, the Microsoft Security Copilot will support security teams in identifying what others overlook by prioritising incidents, correlating and summarising data on attacks, and advising the effective way to redress diverse threats rapidly in time.

Microsoft stated that the new cybersecurity product will offer ongoing access to the most advanced OpenAI models to assist the demanding security tasks and applications.

Furthermore, Microsoft Security Copilot helps in overcoming skills shortages in cybersecurity by filling in knowledge gaps and improving workflows, threat actor profiles, and incident reporting across teams.

The new AI cybersecurity tool is accessible currently through private preview.
