MediaTek has launched its new Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 5G smartphone chipsets with improved camera support and advanced AI capabilities.
The new 6nm chipsets from the Taiwanese fabless semiconductor firms enable device makers to design highly capable 5G smartphones with improved camera features, graphics, and connectivity enhancements, among others.
According to the company, Dimensity 1200 has been tested in 72 real-world scenarios for its 5G performance.
MediaTek said that its new Dimensity chip has already received support from several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO and realme.
To offer a new level of performance, Dimensity 1200 and 1100 5G chipsets are designed with an octa-core CPU.
MediaTek’s wireless communications business unit corporate vice president and general manager JC Hsu said: “MediaTek continues to expand its 5G portfolio with highly integrated solutions for a range of devices from the high-end to the mid-tier.”
“Our new Dimensity 1200 stands out with its impressive 200MP camera support and advanced AI capabilities, in addition to its innovative connectivity, display, audio and gaming enhancements.”
New chipsets support every connectivity generation from 2G to 5G
The Dimensity 1200 and 1100 5G chipsets feature an integrated 5G modem with MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave technology for improved power savings.
The chipsets are designed to support every connectivity generation from 2G to 5G.
In addition, they support the latest connectivity features, including 5G standalone and non-standalone architectures.
MediaTek said that the Dimensity 1200 is designed to support 200MP photos and staggered 4K HDR video capture for significantly greater dynamic range.
For improved power efficiency, the chipset features an updated version of MediaTek’s hexa-core AI processor that has an improved multi-task scheduler.
The chipsets also support AI camera features including AI-Panorama Night Shot, AI Multi-Person Bokeh, AI noise reduction (AINR) and HDR capabilities.
For a fast, fluid user experience, the Dimensity 1200 supports ultra-fast 168Hz refresh rates, while the Dimensity 1100 also supports 144Hz refresh rates for ultra-sharp, zero-lag visuals.
Besides, the chipsets support MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 gaming technologies to support reliable connectivity and multi-touch boost touchscreen responsiveness.
Dimensity 1200 and 1100 chipsets support Bluetooth 5.2, which allows users stream to multiple wireless devices simultaneously.
