Google Cloud has announced a partnership with the Kuwait government to launch a countrywide digital transformation roadmap.

As part of the collaboration, Google Cloud will support the government to digitise services of governmental entities and major state-owned enterprises as well as to migrate national data securely to the cloud.

The Kuwait government is expected to leverage Google Cloud’s technology and expertise in data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) to keep up with its commitment to see digitisation among one of the top national priorities in the coming years.

Google Cloud stated that it will collaborate with the government to digitise citizen services and enhance the latter’s employees’ productivity.

Besides, Google Cloud expects to undertake various digital transformation initiatives in education, healthcare, smart living, and disaster recovery in partnership with the Kuwait government.

Google Cloud alongside the Kuwait Direct Investment and Promotion Authority (KDIPA), the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), and the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), is planning to invest in opening a cloud region in the country.

The new cloud region is expected to contribute to Kuwait’s goal to become a data-driven economy by supporting public sector organisations, businesses, and startups in their digital transformation journeys.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said: “The strategic alliance supports the Government of Kuwait’s Vision 2035, which aims to transform Kuwait into a digital society and diversify its economy.

“We are proud to bring the latest Google Cloud technologies to Kuwait to help the country realise its digitisation ambitions.  The arrival of Google Cloud will contribute to developing a rich tech ecosystem in the country, creating exciting, highly-skilled job opportunities for Kuwaitis.”

Google Cloud is expected to partner with CAIT to launch a national skilling programme for upskilling government employees in digital technologies, data analytics, machine learning (ML), AI, and security solutions.
