Intel has expanded its lineup of 11th Gen Intel Core processors with the addition of Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 and introduced Intel 5G Solution 5000, its first 5G module for PCs.

The new products were unveiled by the American chipmaker at Computex 2021.

According to the company, the Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 chipsets are designed for thin-and-light Windows-based laptops.

Intel corporate vice president and mobility client platforms general manager Chris Walker said: “We’ve taken the world’s best processor for thin-and-light Windows laptops and made the experience even better with the addition of our two new 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

“In addition, we know real-world performance and connectivity are vital to our partners and the people who rely on PCs every day, so we’re continuing that momentum with more platform capabilities and choice in the market with the launch of our first 5G product for PCs: the Intel 5G Solution 5000.”

The Core i7-1195G7 processor has a single-core speed of up to 5GHz, while the Core i5-1155G7 processor can deliver up to 4.5GHz.

Compared to their competitors, the Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 processors can provide up to 25% overall application performance advantage. The two chipsets come with Intel Wi-Fi 6/6E (Gig+) to provide enhanced connectivity.

Apart from that, the independent software vendor (ISV) optimisations on the two chipsets enable up to eight times faster transcoding and up to twice the video editing speed, compared to competitors, claimed the company.

Intel expects to see more than 60 designs based on the two new processors to be launched by this holiday season. Laptops from Acer, Lenovo, ASUS, and MSI that will use the processors will be available this summer.

The company also said that around 250 designs powered by 11th Gen Intel Core U-series processors are anticipated by this holiday season.

On the other hand, the Intel 5G Solution 5000 is claimed to provide almost five-times speed increases over Intel Gigabit Long-Term Evolution (LTE) from anywhere.

The company had worked with MediaTek on the development, certification, and support of 5G modem solutions for PCs. Fibocom is helping the partnership by supplying 5G M.2 solutions (FM350-GL).

Among the first OEMs expected to enable modern connected laptops this year with the Intel 5G Solution 5000 based on 11th Gen Intel Core U- and H-series processors will be Acer, HP, and ASUS.

Last month, Intel launched the new 11th generation Intel Core H-series mobile processors.
