Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) said that it has been selected by du (formerly Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company or EITC), for driving its digital transformation journey to 5G.

In this regard, du is installing HPE’s end-to-end service orchestration software. According to HPE, the software will help the UAE-based firm to expedite its digital transformation and generate new revenues from its 5G network.

HPE said that du is shifting from a legacy system to a next-generation Operations Support System (OSS) for underpinning new services and boost its customers’ experience.

The digital transformation will enable the telecommunications firm for expanding its offerings, speed up time to market, and monetise its investment in 5G.

Du chief information officer Peter Larnholt said: “The right OSS solution is a competitive advantage for us to provide our customers with the seamless digital lifestyle experience they deserve.

“HPE will deliver a huge leap in our technology capabilities in a very short space of time, giving us a stable and secure architecture that will support our leadership position in 5G.

“Our new technology estate will cement our reputation as one of the region’s most advanced telcos offering some of the most advanced Edge orchestration and 5G services in the market.”

Through a single orchestration platform powered by HPE’s Service Order Manager and HPE Service Director, du will be able to support fixed voice services, mobile services, physical and virtual network function (NF) management, SD-WAN services, mobile edge, and 5G slice management, said HPE.

Furthermore, HPE said that the new platform will accommodate all of du’s end-to-end requirements for order management, provisioning of services, and activation.

HPE UAE managing director Ahmad AlKhallafi said: “HPE OSS and orchestration software has been developed to reduce the risk of deploying 5G networks and help operators like du maximise their return on investment.

“We’re pleased to be supporting du with their next-generation OSS system that will help them seize the opportunity presented by 5G and network slicing and embrace open, cloud-native principles, as well as transforming their fixed line and business services.”
