Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has unveiled a new 5G automation software solution for easing the management of 5G networks and cut down deployment risks via a zero-touch, closed-loop system.

The fully integrated automated management solution includes HPE 5G Automated Assurance and also a new 5G capability for HPE Service Director.

The 5G capability for HPE Service Director and HPE 5G Automated Assurance will be available around the world in October 2021.

HPE said that the 5G automation software helps in monitoring and orchestrating the network functions, infrastructure, slices, and services. It automatically responds to detected issues for ensuring service continuity.

HPE communications technology group product management VP Domenico Convertino said: “To fully seize the opportunity presented by 5G and network slicing, network operators need to embrace the open, cloud-native principles that have been built into the industry standards.

“In line with this approach, HPE has developed fully integrated automation capabilities that de-risk 5G deployments and maximise business return for network operators. Building on our leadership in telco cloud, operations support systems and orchestration, we are introducing an integrated offering that accelerates automation in the industry.”

According to HPE, the new software is pre-integrated with the company’s open 5G solutions such as the HPE 5G Core Stack. Besides, it makes use of open-source technologies to provide open APIs for integration with multi-vendor deployments.

Its 5G automation software lessens the risk of managing a multi-vendor 5G network by giving automation capabilities that cover from infrastructure management to slice automation by using open and secure software components.

Operators can deploy the solution in compliance with ETSI, 3GPP, and other standards for combining automated assurance with orchestration to facilitate a full zero-touch closed-loop process.

HPE said that its 5G automation solution is designed to work for countless 5G use cases by introducing intent-based orchestration, artificial intelligence/machine learning-based assurance, cloud-native network function (CNF) onboarding, slice management automation, and infrastructure elasticity.

The new software is pre-integrated with the HPE 5G Core Stack. It also integrates with multi-vendor network functions (NFs) from the company and partners.

HPE said that integration and testing of the software with the company’s NFs and also that of its partner’s is being carried out at its 5G Lab in Fort Collins, Colorado.
