Ericsson has been selected by Ooredoo Group, a Qatari multinational telecommunications company, for providing business support systems (BSS) solutions to help in its digital transformation journey.

The parties have entered into a five-year group frame agreement in this connection.

The agreement covers the deployment of the latest BSS solutions from Ericsson across various operating companies of the Qatari group.

Ericsson said that its solutions will give a new bunch of capabilities to Ooredoo across its business operations spanning the customer, revenue, product, and service management domains.

Furthermore, the BSS solutions of the Swedish telecommunications company will help the Qatari firm to bring in innovation and improve customer satisfaction through quicker time-to-market, improved flexibility, and increased efficiency.

Ericsson business area digital services head Jan Karlsson said: “Digitalisation is transforming the entire Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry and opening up a whole host of opportunities with it.

“Today’s agreement confirms our position as a major partner to the Ooredoo Group and we are proud to extend the relationship into the future and across Ooredoo Operating Companies.”

According to Ericsson, its digital monetisation platform will be the strategic target solution for Ooredoo’s most developed operating companies.

The digital monetisation platform works as a convergent charging and billing solution for monetising 5G and all other network technologies, all business models, as well as all types of customers.

It will also steer Ooredoo’s digital transformation by enabling convergence, help with cost efficiency, and minimising time-to-market for the group’s new customer offerings. Besides, the platform is expected to promote innovation for the Qatari group.

Apart from the digital monetisation platform, Ooredoo’s companies will be using Ericsson’s charging, catalogue manager, billing, order care, dynamic activation, and mediation solutions.

Ooredoo has operations spread over the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Ooredoo group chief technology information officer Nigel Thomas Byrne said: “Ericsson’s Business Support Systems portfolio provides a holistic view and roadmap for Ooredoo’s goal of digital transformation and enables us to provide seamless connectivity and innovative services to our customers.

“Ericsson’s end-to-end solutions will support Ooredoo’s requirements of delivering best-in-class services to consumers and businesses in record time, and leading technology performance. We are confident in Ericsson’s technology leadership and ability to maximise 5G opportunities.”

Last month, Ericsson announced a 10-year partnership with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) for the nationwide rollout of 5G in Malaysia.
