Elon Musk is definitely a ‘work hard, play hard’ kind of entrepreneur. He drinks eight cans of Diet Coke, and several large cups of coffee, per day – so he’s probably quite wired! Musk also said recently that: “I got so freaking jacked on caffeine that I seriously started to feel like I was losing my peripheral vision.” Well, if that’s what it takes to become a mega-successful billionaire who is working to colonise Mars, then we want what he’s having!
Musk also likes to spend his money on James Bond memorabilia. Random, right? He even bough the submarine-capable Lotus Esprit from film The Spy Who Loved Me. How much did it cost, you ask? Over half a million pounds. Nice.
Exercise keeps the brain ticking
Richard Branson has a very different lifestyle to Elon Musk’s. OK, so he’s often on a luxury island in the Carribean. But he likes to do a lot of exercise, and is very careful about what he eats. He partakes in “daily tennis, walks, swims and kitesurfing” according to his blog, and his only treats are chocolate digestives (his favourite).
When he drinks alcohol he also takes a very cautious, measured approach. “When enjoying a glass of wine, I fill the glass very low, and enjoy each sip rather than gulp,” he explains. Perhaps this entrepreneur lifestyle is the key to success?
Love for the written word
We all know Oprah Winfrey as one of the biggest media entrepreneurs on the planet. Many of us have at least heard of her program, the Oprah Winfrey Show, which she launched in 1986. It was such a huge success in its first year that it grossed a mind-blowing $125mn. Oprah took home $30mn.
However, the celebrated TV host has made her mark in television mini-series, and blockbuster movies such as The Colour Purple.
With such an illustrious career, how does someone this successful kick back and relax?
A lover of the written language, Winfrey enjoys exploring the worlds that exist in books. In fact, she created and curates her Oprah Book Club. Aspiring authors better take note. The club has already sold and endorsed 55mn books, referring to them as “Oprah Editions”.
