Cisco Systems has announced its intent to acquire Israel-based cloud security software company Lightspin Technologies for an undisclosed price.

The Israeli company is said to provide a comprehensive solution that offers end-to-end cloud security posture management (CSPM) across cloud-native resources.

According to Cisco Systems, Lightspin Technologies adopts a novel approach to contextualised cloud-security coverage by leveraging graph-based technology for delivering key context, prioritisation, and remediation recommendations.

Cisco stated that both companies are aligned with a common mission to support their customers streamline their cloud environments with end-to-end security and observability from build to runtime.

According to the American technology company, the acquisition of Lightspin Technologies will enable its customers to discover, prioritise, and remediate critical cloud security risks without extensive configuration requirements.

Lightspin Technologies is said to possess technical expertise in cloud security, product development, and SaaS security products.

The firm’s expertise in supporting DevOps and DevSecOps with context and tooling is expected to expedite Cisco’s capabilities to offer the solutions and support requiring to prioritise and remediate vulnerabilities throughout cloud applications and environments.

Cisco stated: “Cisco and Lightspin have a shared commitment to helping their customers secure their critical data, applications, and infrastructure across all environments.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the innovative team from Lightspin to Cisco. When the acquisition closes, they will join the Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ET&I) business as we advance new and emerging technologies that connect to Cisco’s mission of powering an inclusive future for all.”

Last month, Cisco announced a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz to deliver an optimal mobile office experience in the latter’s new E Class vehicles. The partnership is expected to allow the users to work safely, securely, and comfortably in their vehicles.
