Accenture has agreed to acquire XtremeEDA, a Canadian provider of silicon design services, for an undisclosed price.

Based in Ottawa, XtremeEDA offers semiconductor engineering services.

The company caters to clients pursuing custom silicon solutions that are used in consumer devices, cloud data centers, and machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) computational platforms for facilitating edge AI deployment.

The acquisition is expected to grow the capabilities of Accenture Cloud First in edge computing to enable clients in improving the way they manage and use physical assets at or near the user and build new interactive, human experiences.

Accenture Cloud First global lead Karthik Narain said: “We believe silicon engineering has enormous potential to help organisations uncover new ways to differentiate and personalise experiences in the digital world.

“Excellent, fit-for-purpose silicon design translates into real-time, seamless, accessible and completely user-centered experiences. The XtremeEDA team’s expertise will help us bring more specialised, high-performance and scalable compute capabilities to our clients as they utilise the power of the Cloud Continuum to reinvent their enterprises.”

Established in 2002, XtremeEDA has expertise in verification of digital design, integration of processors and systems, and hardware security.

The company’s main offering is digital design verification where its engineers deliver advanced verification services and solutions, which include reusable and scalable implementation.

Besides, XtremeEDA provides processor and system integration services through applied art verification, performance analysis, and coherency testing.

XtremeEDA CEO Claude Cloutier said: “Joining Accenture will enable us to continue the mission we started 20 years ago: to be a strategic partner for clients and to have global reach.

“It’s a milestone moment to bring our team’s experience to Accenture’s end-to-end silicon engineering services. We are excited for the journey ahead, one that will open greater opportunities for our clients and people.”

XtremeEDA is the fifth acquisition for Accenture Canada after Gevity, Cloudworks, and Avenai.
