Accenture has launched a new global sovereign cloud practice with an objective to assist organisations in leveraging disruptive new technologies in the cloud with reliable frameworks, services, and controls.

The company said that its first sovereign practice features four new centres in Kronberg in Germany, Trondheim in Norway, Paris in France, and Rome in Italy.

According to Accenture, the centers are located within its innovation hubs.

The new centres bring together Accenture’s industry, security, and technology specialists under one roof to work with ecosystem partners. The purpose for this is to expedite the digitisation of business processes as well as to expose opportunities for new data collaborations.

The sovereign cloud approach enables organisations in controlling the location, access to and processing of their data in a cloud environment. This will help them respond to new, emerging industry standards, and compliance needs in specific sectors or countries, said Accenture.

Accenture Europe CEO Jean-Marc Ollagnier said: “Whether the goal is to accelerate the switch to greener energy sources, respond to supply chain disruptions or speed up drug discovery, all these transformations rely on cloud, data and artificial intelligence. And they will require sovereign frameworks for data storage and sharing between trusted partners.

“The new Accenture sovereign cloud centers will help organisations address this challenge, enabling innovation in a way that aligns with European values and standards.”

With the new sovereign cloud centres in Europe, Accenture’s clients will be able to view live industry examples. This will help them build a blueprint to address and solve their sovereign cloud needs pro-actively with dedicated support from Accenture Cloud First specialists.

In another development, Accenture has acquired Avieco, a UK-based sustainability consultancy, for an undisclosed price.

Avieco assists companies in understanding, handling, and enhancing their sustainability performance, and generate significant value for their stakeholders.
