Accenture has launched Velocity, a platform co-created and jointly funded with Amazon Web Services (AWS), to streamline business outcomes by eliminating the complexity in developing and operating enterprise-scale applications and estates in the cloud.

Velocity is expected to help customers expedite business transformation on AWS by up to 50%.

The new platform will enable customers in adopting innovations from Accenture and AWS more quickly. This will be without any time-consuming, labour-intensive work, and repeated costs at the start of every project, stated Accenture.

Velocity is said to be based on the learnings from thousands of AWS and Accenture projects. It will integrate learnings from about 40 solutions for 16 industries with proven use-case relevance.

Accenture cloud first global lead Karthik Narain said: “Last year, we announced a five-year vision with AWS to take companies further, faster in an era of compressed transformation.

“This year, we are delivering on a major step in our five-year investment to help our clients to grow and innovate across the cloud continuum for total business reinvention.

“Velocity will bring AWS-powered industry, cross-industry, and technology solutions to market faster, with more repeatability and at a lower cost. It’s the essence of innovation powered by the shared experiences of Accenture and AWS.”

Accenture said that Velocity will allow organisations to overcome complex industry-specific constraints to expedite cloud success. The platform is believed to serve as a foundation for an increased range of new, co-developed industry solutions.

AWS sales, marketing and global services senior vice president Matt Garman said: “For years, Accenture and AWS have collaborated to combine our shared resources, technical capabilities, and industry knowledge to help customers unlock innovation, drive business value, and support growth through cloud adoption and transformation.

“Velocity marks the next step in our collaboration as we continue to deliver innovation and industry-specific offerings that help customers move to the cloud faster than ever before.”

Velocity, which is available on a subscription basis, features pre-built and self-renewing capabilities to develop cloud-first environments based on specific business priorities. These include a data platform, a secure cloud foundation, and application building blocks.

The platform also has activators which use a comprehensive set of assets, methodologies and processes to ease technology and talent hurdles.

Recently, Accenture and AWS collaborated with Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas to commercialise STEAR, a cloud-based logistics solution and services platform.
