Accenture said that its subsidiary Accenture Federal Services (AFS) has secured a position on a 10-year digital engineering contract worth $900m from the US Air Force.

Accenture Federal Services will be taking part in the bidding and compete as a prime contractor on task orders to undertake research and development, rapid prototyping, and solution delivery services.

According to Accenture, the solutions delivery services are expected to advance the US Air Force’s Base Defense System’s capability to respond to adversary threats that range from small unmanned systems to hypersonic missiles.

The professional services firm stated that the two digital engineering solutions to be provided by its subsidiary to support the Air Force Base Defense system have already been implemented successfully in dozens of systems across the US Department of Defense (DoD).

One of the solutions is PICARD, which is a sensor fusion platform that can free data which would otherwise be locked away in legacy environments. Ageon ISR, the other offering, is designed for real-time forensic analysis and mission control.

Accenture Federal Services managing director and C4ISR lead Stephen Carlon said: “We look forward to helping the Air Force Base Defense System test innovative, mission-critical ways of using intelligence data collected from existing sensors and cameras.

“We’re excited to build upon our longstanding partnership with the US Air Force to advance its ability to make highly effective threat mitigation decisions.”

Furthermore, Accenture expects to deliver its expertise in the development of synthetic environments by using virtual reality (VR).

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Architectures and Integration Directorate anticipates that work on awarded task orders are completed by 2032.

In October 2022, Accenture Federal Services won a contract worth $189m from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to expedite its migration to the cloud.
